Entr'acte

I have to admit that I've always cared a great deal about fashion; and I hate to admit how elated and important it seemed to me when I was included on Vanity Fair's Best Dressed Consideration List --- two years in a row (not being famous or as famous as most of the others I did not make the top ten) But as they say it was an honor to even be nominated. I know people think you are lying when you say this but I really mean it... I promise.

But that is not really what this blog is about... I won't be writing about the collections or fashion week happenings (unless someone does something amazing... but don't hold your breath I'm not) I'll leave that task  to Anna Wintour and her tribe or Kim Kardashian and her people--- you can peruse their musings depending on whose camp you are in.

What I will be exploring are things that are always in fashion like, good food, friends, love, manners, nice places and ideas. I may talk a little about clothing and how never to be out of style, or creating your own look--- I will probably be writing about a Courreges shirt I owned from 1978 until it's disappearance during Hurricane Hugo that I still pine over like a lost love.

I always had nice things to wear thanks to a mother who also cared about such things and had attentive sales people at  I Magnin .  But in all fairness I owe my sense of fashion and style to my first adult friend Teri; who taught me about creating my own look and understanding fabric and patterns and color... but most importantly I learned about real friendship, loyalty, trust and the sustenance that comes from east coast culture and style.  She however enjoyed and emulated my west coast attitude and embraced the Hawaiian culture and ideas I shared with her.  Together we explored life, love and shared laughter and tears. I remember her smile best and think about her almost every day.

So if you will join me we will be taking a walk down the corridors of my life; past, present and future--- and enjoying the luxury of what life has to offer with traditions, talent, choices, recipes for delicious things to eat and of finding our way and living not just surviving... although you will see it's important to know how to do both!

There may be a thing or two about show business and some of the fashionable fabulous people that i've met (but nothing too personal or scandalous) in my wonderful meandering life!
